Settlement Day ceremonies at Reeves Point July 2016

2016 Settlement Day Ceremonies in Kingscote, Wed 27 July.

The weather held back, and the premier was there, and students were present, and Young Achievers were announced. Then we had a wonderful evening at the Ozone Hotel with 60 guests. Thank you to all those who attended, to those who organised it, and to our speakers, especially our guest speaker "Islander" -  Hartley Willson.

Settlement Day success

What a great community effort on Settlement Day. The KiC staff presented the Reeves Point area in excellent condition. The ceremony went smoothly with speeches and presentations and the Kangaroo Island Pioneers Association orgainsing two historical plaques in the pioneer cemetery.

The lunch was a treat of home cooking by the Hope Cottage Museum. Peter Davis’ van was also a highlight. Thanks must go to the the Kangaroo Island Pioneers Association for wonderful dinner and speakers. A huge effort appreciated by all. I am sure the South Australia Premier and guests all had a memorable 180th celebration.
