OBITUARY.

Residents of the town and district deeply regret the death of Mr Richard Lovering, who passed away at the Kingscote District Hospital on Saturday evening last, February 12th. He had been an inmate of the Hospital for about a fortnight. Few of the residents realised that he was seriously ill and his death came as a great shock to them. His happy nature had won for him a host of friends, and no matter how worried one might be, a chat with Uncle Dick, (as be was affectionately known to his friends) always brightened one up. The late Mr Lovering who was sixty years of age was born at Kapunda, and he came to Kingscote as a youth, his first job being with the late Mr Tom Margrie at the Cygnet River Eucalyptus factory. He worked about the district for some time on various jobs, becoming interested in the Yaoca Gum Industry, and than started at Kingscote as a carrier, later, opening an Ironmongery and Commission business, which be was carrying on up to the time of his death. Although he did not take an active part in district affairs, he was ever willing to help in movements for its advancement and welfare, He married Miss Jane Buick, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs William Buick of Penneshaw, who survives him, There are two sons— Mr Archie Lowering, Kingscote, and Pte, Leslie Lovering, A.I F.. and two grand children. The funeral took place at the Kingscote cemetery on Sunday afternoon, in the presence of a large circle of relatives and friends, Messrs J, Peterson, M, B. Chapman, D. H. Shepherd, A. A. Tiggemann, N. J. Ruthven and L. Cook, members of ibe Kingscote Lodge, R.A.O. B., (of which the deceased was an active member until recently) acted as bearers. The Rev. T. P. Wood officiated at the graveside, and at the conclusion of the service, addressed the gathering. alluding to the respect and regard all bad felt for their departed friend owing to his kindly nature, and in concluding expressed a hope that soon, tolerance will take the place of intolerance and suspicion in the International sphere and also in our own individual lives.
