Basketball

Penneshaw Basketball Club.

Results of meeting held in the Penneshaw Hall, Saturday April 29th 1939. There were quite a number of girls present, the total being fifteen. We would like all girls in the district to join up, married ones included. What we aim to do this year is to make the club an absolute success, The subscription fee for this year has been decided on, the small sum of (1/) one shilling. We are sincerely hoping to come to an arrangement with the Penneshaw Tennis Club, for the use of one of the courts. It is the hope of every girl in our club, to be able to play against the girls at the other end of the Island. Mrs Syd, Willson was elected President for the year 1939. Miss Dimny Bates was elected Captain and Miss Jean Howard Vice-Captain.. Miss S. Stephens was elected Honorary Secretary, The Committee reads as follows : — Mrs S. Willson, Misses D Bates, J. Howard, M. Willson, S. Stephens. Our first practice will commence on Saturday, May 6th. We wouid like all girls to come along a»d join in with the fun and spirit of tbe ideal sport 'Basketball.'

Wisanger Basketball Club

At the Annual Meeting of the Wisanger Basketball Club held Thurs day May 4th, the following officers were elected:— President, Mrs W. R. Boxer; Vice President, Mrs H. V. Turner ; Captain,, Mrs R. Turner; Vice Captain Mrs C. Boxer; Secretary, Miss G. Bampton. The following resolutions were passed:—It was decided to accept the new rules of the S.A.W.B.B.A. The club agains join the Kingscote District Association.

American River Basketball Club

... A dance followed the afternoon's sport. Proceeds were in aid of Tennis and Basket Ball Clubs, there was a good attendance and a pleasant evenings dancing was enjoyed. Miss Doreen Buick secretary of the newly formed Basketball Club is bopeful of success with her club.

Kingscote Basketball Club

Four teams will constitute the Kingscote Basketball Association for this season—Wisanger, Cygnet River, Kingscote Ramblers and Kingscote Centrals. The season will commence tomorrow Saturday June 15th., when a match between Cygnet River and Wisanger will begin at 2.30 p.m. ...
